Launching our series of events thinking through what it means to witness, we welcomed Leo Aces Collins and Breakfast Bodies for an informal life drawing session.

Leo Aces is a diversity awareness speaker, focusing on Disability and Transgender issues. He also a life model, gratitude coach and entrepreneur. Leo identifies as a gay transman and pronouns are he/him. He has Athetoid Cerebral Palsy which he never lets get in the way of living a fulfilling life. See Leo’s full bio here.

Breakfast Bodies is a laid back life drawing class in which beginners to both modelling and drawing are always welcome. Rosie and George from Breakfast Bodies led the group in guided exercises offered support and answered any questions. Participants were encouraged to experiment with as wide a range of materials as possible. People used pens, pencils, ink, watercolour, charcoal, all sorts! Breakfast Bodies encouraged us to think outside the box, telling us that there was no right or wrong way to approach the class.

It was a privilege and pleasure to think about the act of witnessing together through our screens, Leo as a moving body. Trying to document this witnessing through art skills some of us had not used in a very long time, was itself very moving!
